The Shadow Cabal
The year is 1959. The Cold war is just beginning to heat up. America is in the midst of a pivotal Election. New technology has created a golden age for international espionage.
In The Shadow Cabal players will be playing the fledgling agents of a new Spy agency that will eventually become A.E.G.I.S. (If you’re unfamiliar with the Freedom City setting just think of it as S.H.I.E.L.D.). We will be using the Agents of Freedom variant on the Mutants and Masterminds system and players will be allowed one power each. The goal is for this to be a classic Silver Age Spy yarn. Essentially, players will be low-powered recruits from around the world (Country of origin and age are entirely up to you, however your loyalties are expected to lie with America) deployed secretly to infiltrate and disrupt international forces of evil. The missions will tread the line of the realistic (normal guns, hidden cameras, no computers) and the fantastic (Robots, dinosaurs, robot-dinosaurs)
This game will draw on source material from Agents of Freedom, The Golden Age, Freedom City, and the Mutants and Masterminds (2nd edition) source book, all of which I can provide. relevant setting information will be primarily drawn from the Golden Age book (as the other books cover more post-60’s history). IF you’re looking for inspiration any Nick Fury agent of SHIELD series is a good source, as well as Avengers 1959, the films and novels of James Bond, classic pulp adventures like Doc Savage, and The Venture Bros.
